Styrian Pumpkin Seed Oil, cold pressed, organic

Our pumpkin seed oil (l. Cucurbita pepo) is made from gently roasted hulled pumpkin seeds, using the traditional oil extraction methods characteristic of the Styria region in Austria. Its distinctive aroma, flavor, and texture are achieved by lightly roasting the seeds before pressing, resulting in a dark-colored, thick oil with a rich bouquet of roasted seed taste and fragrance.

  • Traditional specialty from Styria, Austria, with centuries of use.

  • Historically used both as a culinary delicacy and for health purposes.

  • Known as the “green gold” of Styria due to its rich flavor and nutritional value.

Nutritional & Bioactive Composition
  • Rich in unsaturated fatty acids, mainly linoleic acid (Omega-6).

  • Contains plant sterols and antioxidants supporting overall wellness.

  • Moderate amount of vitamin E, contributing to skin and cardiovascular health.

Health Benefits (Scientifically Supported)

  • May help maintain healthy cholesterol levels.

  • Antioxidant content supports cellular protection from oxidative stress.

  • Some evidence suggests benefits for prostate and urinary tract health.

Culinary Uses

Pumpkin seed oil is primarily used as a flavorful addition to finished dishes. Its dark color, thick texture, and pronounced nutty flavor and aroma complement creamy soups, vegetable dishes, salads and juices, grain porridges, and freshly baked bread, as well as grilled meat or fish. Pumpkin seed oil is not suitable for heating. It can be blended with lighter oils, such as sunflower or grape seed oil, and used in the preparation of mayonnaise and other cold sauces.
